The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has just published its “Blueprint for Ending Distracted Driving.”  The publication is a comprehensive plan that makes specific recommendations to states, auto manufacturers, parents and teen drivers about what each can do to limit distracted driving accidents on public roadways.  The publication is an eye-opener about how frequently distractions are the underlying cause of auto accidents/injuries/fatalities. One study referenced in the document found that texting drivers were 23 times more likely to be involved in an auto accident!

Great educational materials, tips, new driver pledges, and more derived from the Blueprint can be found online at  Distraction.gov.  One useful tip for teens concerned about their own safety – When you get in a friend’s car, make them hand you their phone until the trip is over.   Show off your tips here.
