Airplane Accidents in Gaithersburg
Negligence in the Air
The Comair Plane Crash
On August 29th of 2006, Comair Flight 5191 crashed while attempting to
take off from Blue Grass Airport near Lexington, Kentucky. Forty passengers
and two crew members died in the plane crash; one crew member survived.
Attorneys at Sussman & Simcox were chosen by the family of the one
Maryland victim on that flight to represent them in filing suit against
the airline. We initiated the suit in federal court in Kentucky, putting
together and presenting a compelling picture of the economic and other
substantial damages suffered by the family as a result of the plane crash.
The result of our efforts was a settlement sufficient to provide for that
family's needs for life.
Trial Attorneys for Maryland Plane Crash Victims
Although major aviation accidents like the Comair crash are fewer and farther
between than ever before — accidents involving small planes occur
with alarming regularity. The most common causes of these accidents are
pilot error, weather and maintenance-related equipment malfunctions.
Our firm handles small-airplane accident claims on behalf of victims and
families throughout Maryland. Working cooperatively with investigators
from the FAA and the NTSB, we focus the majority of our efforts on preparing
a thorough and compelling picture of the damages our clients have suffered
as the result of pilot or maintenance errors. Clients benefit from this
and from the fact that our attorneysare actual litigators. Each has more
than 20 years of courtroom experience in all. As a result, insurers often
prefer to deal with us on a reasonable basis rather than risk a greater
judgment at trial.
